The incense stick is propped up with its own weight.

When a majority of the incense is burnt, the remaining “nub” falls down into the chamber

I 3D modeled the incense holder shape, which was then 3D printed. The print was then sanded to a perfect surface for plaster molding.

Incense holders were slip-cast in porcelain

Slip-casting creates a hollow shell. I figured this method would be perfect to collect incense ashes as they fall down. Slip-casting requires a pour spout that will inevitably create a hole. I strategically placed the pour spout on the bottom to create the hole to throw the ashes out.
